Welcome to Your New Normal Tags: change normal stress

change

I liked my old normal!

Change is not one of my favorite things.

Many of you know that my son got married and moved out to live with his new bride. She's great and it's a good thing.

My doctor reminded me that even good things can cause stress. I've certainly managed to prove that this summer.

What does your new normal include?

  • A child off to college?
  • Or a marriage like me?
  • Starting to homeschool?
  • Adding another child to your homeschool?
  • Sending a child off to a school after homeschooling?
  • Job change?
  • Move?
  • Empty nest?
  • New baby?
  • Puppy?

See, even good things cause stress.

That's why we need to build our homes on the Lord. If we build on sand changes will come and our homes will fall.

"And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it." Mat 7:26-27 ESV

No change is not easy, but with the Lord, we are able to adjust and continue to lean on Him.

"I the LORD do not change." Mal. 3:6

WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO BE CANDID?

Candid-Conversations

Can we just agree that life is hard?

In Paul’s letters to the Corinthians, he shared some of his struggles, and he addressed some of theirs. That’s part of the reason I believe there is power in sharing our struggles.

Over and over again the Bible calls us to encourage one another.

Life is hard, but we were never meant to face it alone.

That’s why I want to tell you about Candid Conversations. It’s a new anthology that I am excited to be a part of.

In it, over 25 women have come together to share some of their struggles. But they aren’t complaining, they are sharing how their struggles point to Jesus.

This book is powerful because these women share from their hearts about real situations.

We are celebrating the launch of this book by having a party on Facebook with lots of games, giveaways, and more.

Celebrating Our Freedom

Two kinds of freedom.

Can we have one without the other?

Woman2Woman has a great article on our freedoms from being an American. She also includes a prayer that would be good to pray as a family.

National Day of Prayer put out these points to pray for our country.

Those are great ideas to pray to celebrate our freedom as Americans.

But what about the other freedom we enjoy? Our freedom in Christ

because of his death on the cross?

"For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death." Rom 8:2 ESV

Have you been set free from the law of sin and death? If so today is a good day to celebrate that along with celebrating the freedoms we enjoy as Americans.

If not you can follow this link and discover how you too can be free from the law of sin and death.
